Process
Start from Alpha& Beta phase
We began by reviewing the previous Discovery and Alpha projects to see how we could best build on the great work that had already been done.
We also ran user interviews to get input into where we should focus our efforts, by finding out where users had struggled with the alpha. Based on this it was clear that the areas needing most attention were: the standard’s online presence, communication and engagement with the ecosystem, governance structures for running and evolving the standard.

User Interview
I collaborated with researchers to conduct remote usability testing via Google Meet, using clickable wireframe prototypes. Working alongside content designers, we refined the content and layout while gathering usability feedback on the website’s navigation, structure, and key pages to enhance clarity and user experience.

Outcome
Final deliverables
The visual design process began by defining core elements such as the logo, typography, color, and layout. We explored various possibilities from scratch, refining the visuals in collaboration with lead interaction designer. The final design was implemented using a structured design library for consistency and scalability.
My learning
Deliver design with considering governance
Collaboration was key throughout the process. I worked closely with a senior interaction designer, gaining valuable feedback to refine our approach. I helped bridge the gap between designers and developers, ensuring seamless communication and alignment.
Governance was also a priority. The handovers to stakeholder is a important start point to foster relationships with local councils and the public sector to support long-term adoption and scalability.
Accessibility played a crucial role in our work. I shadowed experts, conducted accessibility audits, and tested the product using assistive technologies. To ensure inclusivity, we also recruited a diverse group of users to provide valuable insights and feedback.
